HAROLD FRANK HALL

Welcome to Harold Frank Hall.

(West - and busiest - entrance)

Y'all come back and see us, now. Hear?

(West - and busiest - entrance)

There's nothing like a good first impression and this is nothing like a good first impression.
The south entrance with its expansive glass-walled lobby was once the primary entrance to the building. After the parking lot to the south was replaced by Bren Hall, most faculty and guests enter from the north side of the building.
The south lobby needs new flooring.
While recycling is good, the formal lobby area of a prestigious engineering department deserves a better look.
Most Engineering faculty members enter from the north side of the building closest to the CNSI parking structure. This particular entrance gives them a nice view of the Marborg dumpsters.
Upon entering, faculty must be careful not to run into the trash-tote often left outside the shop area.
Another unwelcoming welcome.
Clutter at the west entrance.
Faculty or guests entering HFH from the nearest parking structure must walk by a rather unattractive utility area.
As they approach the building, they must pass by a chain-linked fence which does its best to conceal ...
... a step-ladder, safety cones, and a utility shed.
The 2nd north entrance to HFH bypasses the service yard but doesn't quite give vistors a red carpet welcome. Glassing in this entrance to the exterior stairs and interior elevator would enhance the approach. Adding signage would also help.
