The exterior entrance could be much more attractive by moving the bike racks away from the front door and adding some planters against the wall. It is a Biology building after all.

The entrance area is enhanced by a covered patio making the appearance from the parking lot seem more formal and inviting than the service entrances of Chemistry and Harold Frank Hall, for example.

... not to mention cluttered and unprofessional.

While the entrance mat is not the worst on campus, mats ought to replaced on a more regular basis as a general policy.
A fresh coat of interior paint would go a long way towards improving the appearance of the building. First floors (seen here) are particularly susceptible to damage and wear.
